We always try and add new components to the show, fun, informative things to better serve our audience. A few years ago we introduced the YARD GREEN CARPET EVENT series, which have become a listener favorite, and a campus staple. This season we add an official Pre Show, a prelude of sorts to what people can expect from the week’s live broadcast. This short form video broadcast will launch September 2oth here on theyardradio.com . Meet Tay, one half of the new TAB & TAY Pre-Show.

What are you up too this summer?

This summer I been working nonstop like a slave and writing for GradAcertified.net

What are you doing with THE YARD this season?

This year I will be Co-hosting the new Pre Show with Tabitha. We will also have our own little on-air segment as well.

What should listeners expect from the Tab and Tay pre-show?

Listeners should expect the unexpected from the Tab and Tay pre show. We want to set the tempo for the upcoming episode of THE YARD every week. Everything that everybody wants to say but cannot say, you will hear from Tab and Tay. It will be filled with nonstop laughs and random things.

Since you’re graduating, what are your plans after Hampton University?

After Hampton University, I will be either attending grad school at UMD or starting my career in the Journalism field as a sports anchor/broadcaster or in the radio industry as a personality.

Since we gave advice to young men entering college this morning, we can continue with the theme this afternoon.

We’ve received a considerable amount of mail from our readers, inquiring about the  men on THE YARD this season, or the lack there of. There is clearly a void. There are not a lot of dynamic fellows bumbling around our campuses to cast! We did however, find a few. Meet Isaiah

What have you been doing all summer?

My summer has been pretty busy. I’ve been interning with Theybf.com, Entercom Communications (95.7, Z104, 2WD, and The Point) in Virginia Beach, taking a summer class, attending personal branding seminars and participating in debates.

What was it like going to LA and being on the red carpet for the Step Up 3D premiere?

It was definitely a one of a kind experience. I was the youngest person throughout the press junket and I was able to prove myself amongst professionals older than me. They also gave great feedback afterwards. It was also a great networking experience.

What are you doing with THE YARD this season?

This season I will be the Green Carpet Producer, scheduling The Yard to be at various events, taking pictures, video, etc.

As Green Carpet producer, what events would do you plan on having the green carpet at this season?

This season I want Green Carpet to be involved with fashion shows, comedy shows, as well as the biggest parties this semester. I want The Yard to be well known not only at Hampton University, but throughout Hampton Roads.

Since you are senior and will be graduating this year, what is next after Hampton University?

After graduating from Hampton, I plan to move to Atlanta, begin an internship with CNN, and attend grad school.

Everyone likes the Green Carpet Correspondent. They get the most camera time, and as a rule set by our first anchor, Steeven Nelson, they must be fashionably astute.

We have profiles for all the cast positions on THE YARD, and the Green Carpet Correspondent is no exception, in fact this roll is scrutinized the most during the interview process.

That said, once the position is secured you can rest assured, knowing the new correspondent is a very special person. Meet Courtney.

How is your summer going in Chicago and what have you been up too?

This summer has been very productive for me! I have been interning with WVON 1690, Talk Radio Station of Chicago, Illinois, writing for the Grade A Certified blog, as well volunteering with an organization called Chicago Cares.

What are you most excited for this season as the new Green Carpet Correspondent in Hampton?

As the new Green Carpet Girl, I am very excited about the experience as a whole, working with my new Yardigan family and I will be very excited about meeting and interviewing all of the new people at every event.

THE YARD began at Hampton University seven seasons ago and has since expanded to Atlanta, Georgia and Capetown South Africa. When we started, WHOV 88.1FM was our home, we reached 25,000 listeners each week, most of them were out of college. Needless to say our following was interesting, to say the least.

In season three we perfected the successful model we continue with today. Great talent, amazing supporting staff, and exciting guests. The show immediately shifted from being a general topics show to being the water cooler “it thing” to discuss on thursdays from 12-2 in the student center. “Did you hear THE YARD last night?”

Last year WHOV went through drastic staffing changes. These developments threatened to keep the show of the air for an entire semester, if not longer. We wanted to keep our commitment to our listeners, and continue to provide pop culture for college students, as we always have. We pulled the show off the air and moved it online exclusively. The move proved to be extremely successful, we became more connected to our audience and more popular than ever. We replicated this success in Atlanta and will do so in South Africa in the fall.

We’ve found that by doing great work we attract amazing talent. Paris, Hampton’s new host is no exception. She’s a host on Richmond, VA’s 92.1FM but was compelled to audition for the lead hosting position this season with THE YARD Radio Show. Meet Paris…

So Paris, how are you spending your summer?
I have been spending my summer working at Radio One Richmond’s iPower 92.1FM as a radio personality.

What are you most excited about for this season of THE YARD?
I am especially excited because this is my first time working on THE YARD. I feel we have a great team and this year we will be bigger and better than ever before.

What are your goals upon graduating?
I plan to move into a bigger city and continue to pursue radio and entertainment television.

What is one interesting fact that many people do not know about you?
I can by shy at times and most people would never guess that being that I host radio shows and events.

What should our listeners expect from their new host this season?
I am really excited about this season, I plan to give this show my all. I will try to incorporate my connections with my Radio One radio show to put THE YARD on a completely different level.
